SQL Server Express Installation

You have to be patient during the whole installation process as there is a lot of work going on in the background. The Server is capable of handling terabytes of data very efficiently.

1. Download the SQL Server Express Version as required from the internet. Simply search for SQL Server Express along with the year of updated software you need. For our older clients we mostly use the 2019 edition, but for our new clients we can download the latest version of SQL Server Express.

2. Run the installation of the downloaded program. Then choose the Custom option as shown below.

1. For Media Location just use the location provided by default. Then click Install

It will start downloading the SQL version.

1. This screen will appear automatically after full download. Select the first option.

1. Click the next option.

1. Agree to the terms.

1. Now remember to select only the Database Engine Services in the Instances Features section. This makes it lighter. Leave the other shared options as such.

1. Save the Instance Name as SQLEXPRESS.

1. Click on next.

1. Select the mixed mode option (very important). Set the password and never forget it. Then click on next.

1. And that is it. It will take some time to finish. Just wait till the success screen appears.
